Christian Science prison chaplains offer support for those in need in prisons.

It is a legal right for all prisoners to have access to a chaplain of their own denomination or faith. In addition, Christian Science prison chaplains work in chaplaincy teams providing pastoral support. This is kept confidential within the prison.

Christian Science prison chaplains’ work is based on the teachings of the Bible, in particular the words and works of Christ Jesus, and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy including the textbook of Christian Science, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.

Any prisoner who wishes to receive a visit from a Christian Science Chaplain can make a request through their Managing Chaplain. Any prisoner who wishes to register as a Christian Scientist should ensure that the code CHSC is entered on their prison record.

If you have questions about our work, or if you are a Christian Scientist who might be interested in becoming a Christian Science prison chaplain, please email us at christiansciencechaplains@gmail.com or write to us at Christian Science Prison Chaplains Committee, First Church of Christ Scientist, London, 8 Wright’s Lane, London W8 6TA.

The Committee is recognised as the Faith Advisor and facilitates the provision of Christian Science chaplains to prisons. It gives assistance and advice to Christian Science chaplains and provides information about Christian Science prison chaplaincy work.
